Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen® and launched the global breast cancer movement.

Today, Komen has invested more than $2.5 billion to fulfill our promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 30 countries.

MSThe Multiple Sclerosis www.nationalmssociety.org

The Greater Illinois Chapter works to improve the quality of life for people affected by MS across a 73-county territory, starting at the Wisconsin-Illinois border and extending south through the northern and central areas of Illinois, and to raise funds for critical MS research. Join the movement toward a world free of MS.

The National MS Society is working toward a world free of MS. They mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS.

Mercy HousingMercy Housing
www.mercyhousing.org

Mercy Housing is one of the nation’s largest affordable housing organizations. They participate in the development, preservation, management and/or financing of affordable, program-enriched housing across the country. Mercy Housing serves a variety of populations with housing projects for low-income families, seniors and people with special needs. They acquire and renovate existing housing, as well as develop new affordable rental properties.

Mercy Housing is redefining affordable housing by creating a stable foundation where our residents can explore their potential, supported by practical resident programs such as health classes, financial education, employment initiatives, parenting and after-school programs for children.

The Cara ProgramThe CARA Program
www.thecaraprogram.org

The Cara Program was founded in 1991 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Tom Owens.

Since its inception, we have placed over 3,250 individuals into quality, permanent employment (at one-year job retention rates of 77%), catalyzing the same number of families to stop the transfer of poverty from one generation to the next.  In addition, The Cara Program boasts two social enterprises – one in neighborhood beautification and the other in property preservation* – that achieve a triple bottom line: over $2 million in revenue annually, more than 250 transitional jobs per year for the hardest to employ, and a steady stream of permanent jobs created within our own growing business.
